Synopsis "Seder in Motion: A Haggadah to Move Body and Soul (in English)"

Experience the Passover Seder in body and spiritIncludes Connection tips for actively involving remote participants. This family-friendly yet still traditional Haggadah shows participants of all ages how to engage all five senses in the Seder experience and weaves activities into the Seder to promote a full-body connection to the Passover story and rituals. For example, the order of the seder is accompanied by hand motions, such as raising an imaginary cup of wine, rubbing hands together as if washing, fanning hands in front of your face as if cooling from eating bitter herbs. As participants take the first sip of wine or grape juice, in a Mindfulness Moment they inhale its aroma, swish the liquid in their mouth, and absorb its flavor and essence. They focus on the liquid's fragrance, how it tastes, and how it warms their whole body. When we begin to tell the Exodus story, the storytelling that lies at the heart of the seder, participants take turns passing a hand mirror around the table to look at and visualize themselves as slaves. Then they contrast that with a feeling of freedom by standing up and stretching their arms high and gazing upward. The Haggadah includes creative ideas for engaging all participants. For example, when searching for the afikoman, the person who hid it leads the group in singing a song such as the chorus of Dayenu, louder as the seekers get closer to the afikoman and softer when they move farther away. This first-of-its-kind Haggadah can be used with model seders and intergenerational groups in a community celebration and at home. Includes mindfulness exercises, transliteration, and line art to demonstrate motions. Accommodates participants of all physical abilities.
