Synopsis "Social Media Discourse: A Critical Analysis of Tweets on Kashmir Issue (in English)"
Social Media is an interactive platform for communication and social interaction for e-users at fast speed in a less time. The purpose of this study is to examine the discourse and discursive techniques that were employed for the construction of discourse through social media on the Kashmir issue. Total 80 tweets were selected regarding Kashmir issue from the official twitter accounts of the prominent personalities of Pakistan. The mixed method research is carried out through comprehensive theoretical framework that includes Van Dijk model of Socio cognition and as well as his ideological square model defined by a double norm for positive self representation and negative other-representation concurrently. The findings of the study showed that social media discourse brought great changes to communication. Moreover, the negative ideology of India was identified on the use of social, political and historical context. The present study provides academic researchers a critical and better understanding of social media from the perspective of Kashmir.
