Synopsis "Solving Piping Networks With Your PC (in English)"

Ever wonder how the fire sprinkler programs work? Now with this book, you can calculate sprinkler flows and much more. This book is about solving network problems for piping and ductwork on your PC. It is NOT a program, but a text on how to build the systems of equations describing your network(s). It mostly uses TK Solver, but other math programs will work just as well, such as MATLab. The limit to the problems are your PC's memory and your patience. Many problems are presented and solved including loop networks, tree sprinkler systems, domestic water systems, condensate drainage, ducted exhausts and natural gas piping. This book also shows how to include pumps and fans (single, in series or parallel) in your systems. No steps are skipped (as in many college texts) and printouts of the equations, data input and final results are provided. It will show how to calculate pump head for a geothermal piping system, including the well field too. You can now solve multiple loop systems without mucking about with the manual Hardy Cross method. Requirements are any Windows PC (XP, 7 and 8) and basic knowledge of fluid flow. It includes algorithims for density, viscosity and friction factor so that different temperatures of fluids can be handled. It will work for any Newtonian fluid, but not slurries or 2-phase flow. English units are used, but metric units can easily be substituted.
