Storytelling at Marshall's Encampment all takes place in one weekend. Alicia, who is Native American, invites her friend, Monica, to her hometown pow-wow. Over the three days the pow-wow lasts, the story intertwines between several families' lives, changing them forever. Even though Alicia and Monica were around family, it did not stop a rape from happening. By keeping silent and leaving the pow-wow, several events were triggered that had devastating consequences. Through these events, however, adultery, a serial murderer, a poisoning and family secrets exposed.In the end, Monica and Alicia realize that coming forward and talking about the attack would begin healing in the community that would radiate.Resources were put into Alicia's path to ensure that a healthier change would come to her Native community.Storytelling at Marshall's Encampment is set in modern times but can be in any Indian community. It purposely has no geographical references, so that it can belong to us all.
