Die Gruppe der Raps-Senf-Kulturen ist die wichtigste Ölsaatenkultur in Indien. Die Gruppe besteht hauptsächlich aus Brassica-Raps (Syn. B. compestries L.), B. napus L., B. juncia (L).Czern und Coss und B. carinata Braun). Der Ölgehalt der Arten dieser Gruppe schwankt zwischen 28,6 und 45,7 %. Unter den vier Arten ist B. juncea, die gemeinhin als Indischer Senf bekannt ist, die wichtigste Ölsaat des Landes. Die Anbaufläche, die Produktion und die Produktivität von Raps-Senf im Land betragen 7,06 Millionen ha, 7,23 Millionen Tonnen bzw. 1025 kg/ha (Anon 2016-17). Die wichtigsten Senfanbau-Bundesstaaten des Landes sind Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana und Andhra Pradesh. B. junceais ist die wichtigste Ölsaat in Nord-Madhya Pradesh mit den Bezirken Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Sheopur und Datia, die einen Anteil von mehr als 75 % an der Produktion dieser Kultur in diesem Bundesstaat haben.
