Synopsis "The Beale Papers: Presenting details of an alleged burial of gold, silver and jewels near Goose Creek, Bedford, County, Virginia, by Tho (in English)"
This memoir is an account of the Clayton brother's attempts in solving the riddle to locate the infamous Beale treasure. A riddle that was first printed in a 1885 pamphlet entitled The Beale Papers. These papers were the center of a controversial claim, wherein a narrative describes the origins of a treasure, amounting to a modern estimate of $20 million, that was buried somewhere in the Virginian county of Bedford in 1819 and enlarged again with another deposit in 1821. However, to find the location of the treasure, one must first crack the ciphers found within the Beale Papers. This memoir follows the journey of the historical attempt of two brothers to solve these ciphers that began at the end of the 19th century. The research within provides the reader with additional history not outlined in the original pamphlet, and a very detailed analysis of the papers and the code within them.
