Entre este año y 1993 publicó una serie de manga breves que hicieron que su estilo madurase y que en 1994 pudiese publicar su primer manga largo: “Geneimuso”. En 1997, apareció su mayor éxito: “Fruits Basket”, título que fue premiado con el 25º Manga Award de Kodansha al mejor manga shojo y que en el año 2000 fue adaptado al anime.
