This is the story of a dot that got bored of sitting in the same place for ages without anything to do. So, it got up and started moving around. And that was when the fun started... Syrian author Gulnar Hajo takes us on a playful journey about shapes. Through charming illustrations and sharp storyline, Hajo explores how the universe is constructed from dots, lines and shapes, and how they work harmoniously to create. The illustrations, both imaginative and original, have captured the imagination of young Arabic readers . It was originally published in Arabic by Bright Fingers, a publishing house she cofounded with her husband, Samer al-Kadri, in Syria in 2004. The Dot That Couldn't Sit Still was amongst the stories that they wrote, illustrated and published, promoting innovative children s literature in Syria and the surround region. This is the first time Hajo's work has been published in English by a UK-based publisher.
