佛教創教距今約2500年，看似蓬勃發展，但是三藏十二部之八萬四千法門，未必就是佛陀的本懷，作者先從比較宗教談到大乘佛教與形上學，進而評判大乘八宗之祖龍樹，藉由評論隨佛討論傳統修道次第的謬誤，並提出﹝中道修學次第﹞，再重新審視佛陀的十二因緣，以及十二因緣與四聖諦的關聯；阿含禪觀心要是講解《阿含》禪觀方法以及《雜阿含》；另外收錄了幾篇文章，合成這本《佛法演義》，期盼能將佛法被誤解的地方說清楚，並終結佛教亂象，這在佛教界會是一場哥白尼式的革命。張清二出生於書香世家，自幼即受儒釋道之薰陶，十九歲夢見釋迦佛，便熱心於佛法之鑽研，求學期間接受完整世出世間學問之學習，理論實務並重，因緣際會之下，還原佛陀「獨一靜處、專精禪思」之教說，並開啟彌勒度眾的新時代。
