Synopsis "The Guilt of the Ghosts (in English)"

The Guilt of the Ghosts is the second in the Cut and Run in The Bronx series by author John Liam Shea. It continues to follow NYPD officers Nike Riley and Lieutenant Dunphy through their adventures in the Irish Bronx. This time Dunphy has returned from Ireland in pursuit of his runaway daughter and stumbles upon the curious case of Fr. Michael Duffy. The heroin addicted, murdering priest out of St. John's Parish in Kingsbridge. John Liam Shea will entertain you, but he will also make you think. About religion, morality, sources of social ills, compassion, psychology, the hypocrisy of those who only preach morality & don't try to live by its demands, dedication, self sacrifice... There's commentary about gentrification & immigration that you will not hear from any mainstream source. Critical issues we all should care about find their way on the page where you least expect them. Redemption is a theme, a conviction, not a cliche. Mr. Shea will make you think, but he will also make you feel. Don't be surprised if you are moved to a tear or two. To say that this book is socially relevant would be an understatement. It is scorching hot & relentless in its aversion to those things that it is averse to. & yes, it's a novel. The unbelievably funny & @ times graphic scenes can trick a casual reader into thinking it is only fiction. But it is only fiction about as much as Emile Zola's works were "only" fiction.
