The Reckoning is the third book in the Walk into Darkness trilogy, which follows an elite special ops team in an epic battle to save the nation from a sinister plot by rogue CIA agents. Although Mac, Hank, and The General have had their triumphs, they've also faced tragedy, and The Reckoning finds the president ending their involvement as he elects to utilize a marine unit from Camp Pendleton. This decision would ultimately result in additional loss of life-and threaten the very success of the overall mission. After the leader of the marine unit that replaced The General's team proves too arrogant to heed his advice, they decide to take matters into their own hands and head to Spokane, Washington, to engage the creatures they know all too well. Politics and conspiracies have also played a part in this riveting science fiction thriller. And despite the dark and terrifying theme, humor, respect, and love among the characters shines through in their constant banter as the trilogy builds to its climactic finale.
