In it the reader will find a great and continual source for meditation on the sufferings that Our Lord willingly endured for the redemption of mankind. The visionary Anne Catherine Emmerich, beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2004, not only mystically experienced the events contained in the gospels but also many other events and words of Christ, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the apostles, and others. In this edition the reader will find some of the archaic terms from the 1862 edition modernized as well as a few other additions in order to make the reading and understanding of this great spiritual classic easier and more spiritually profitable. This book also includes an account of the Resurrection as seen by Anne Catherine Emmerich and a 35 page biography of the holy visionary.
