The book is a series of reflections based on the Lectionary readings. It uses the theme of darkness and light, being inspired by the reading from John. "Jesus come into the world to bring light into dark lives." When people go through periods of darkness in their lives, they need a light to guide them through. People who have walked through the shadow of death as Psalm 23 puts it, they are only to aware of the importance of a light to guide us through the dark moments we experience at some stage of our lives. The Author wrote the reflections to help people understand how faith can help them get through the challenges of 21st Century life and develop our relationship with God. The book seeks to relate the biblical teachings to modern life. The reflections commence, as the Christian Year does, on the birth and early life of Jesus, before looking at the readings relating to his ministry and teachings seeking to relate them to life in the 21st century. The reflections also drawn on Old Testament and New Testament writings. The reflections are based on the Bible readings which are at the start of each reflection. The reflections were written after I studied and reflection on the passages. Therefore, to full understanding the thoughts behind the reflection the reader is advised to read the Bible passages before the reflections. The book's reflections will also help people with their own spiritual journey.
