Encuadernación: Rústica Es un verdadero goce que a 50 años justos del establecimiento de las Umap (Unidades Militares de Ayuda a la Producción) en Cuba, oprobio que duraría desde 1965 a 1968, se haya decidido reeditar esta novela cuyo propósito, entre otros, ha sido el de sumar otro granito de arena a aquella tragedia de la que fueron objeto jóvenes y no tan jóvenes, todos inocentes, que sufrieron cautiverio bien por sus filiación religiosa, su orientación sexual o, en fin, por cualquier otra “conducta” que no se aviniera con el “hombre nuevo” que la dictadura se proponía “construir”.[…] Hoy, 50 años después, muchos de los “exsoldados” Umap han muerto. Es natural, tras aquellas alambradas estuvieron encerrados  hombres aun de 30 y 40 años de edad. Sobreviven sobre todo los que, como yo, que recientemente he cumplido 70, contaban con 20 años o menos cuando fueron llevados.
