Synopsis "Una mujer cuelga del calendario: A Woman Hangs from the Calendar (Bilingual edition)"

A Woman Hangs from the Calendar, a collection of poems that, based on the exquisite but terrifying image of its title, announces to the reader a kind of recidivism that is immediately evident upon scrutinizing its content. The poems have as titles dates that correspond to news of femicides transferred to the territory of poetry. This deterritorialization of journalistic and television news (which can sometimes border on yellow journalism) allows Kenny Rodríguez to dissect the reality of Salvadoran and even global society (hence the relevance and validity of the poems) from another register: that of poetic discourse. This discursiveness allows readers to find themselves face to face with the issues that the poetic voice raises as it interprets the crimes in terms of fear, pain, impunity and the re-victimization of women and the subaltern subjects that populate this collection.Juana M. Ramos, PhD.
