Su colosal talla espiritual le otorga la posicion que ocupa, merecidamente, en el elenco de grandes santos de la India contemporanea, tales como Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Aurobindo Ghose, Ramana Maharshi y Paramahansa Yogananda. / Considered the most important Hindu saint of the twentieth century, Sri Anandamayi Ma (1896-1982) was born on April 30, 1896 in Kheora, a tiny Bengali village, and a family of Brahmin caste. She grew up in an atmosphere of extreme simplicity, surrounded by poverty, and she hardly went to school. She attained enlightenment without a guru or without having studied the sacred texts. Her colossal spiritual state gives the position deservedly in the cast of great saints of modern India, such as Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Aurobindo Ghose, Ramana Maharshi and Paramahansa Yogananda.
