Si, como reza el subtítulo, este trabajo se presenta como una introducción a la ontología política contemporánea, no lo hace con el significado habitual del término, sino con uno más específico y particular. Pues, independientemente de lo que se quiera entender por contemporaneidad, es evidente que este libro no pretende ofrecer una visión panorámica de su ontología política, y esto, ni por la diversidad de las escuelas a las que hace referencia (como veremos, Gilles Deleuze es su eje principal), ni por la variedad de ideas que en él se desarrollan (ni siquiera se hace eco de la totalidad de la obra del propio Deleuze, como tampoco de la de aquéllos con la que ésta se compara: Alain Badiou, Giorgio Agamben, Antonio Negri, etc.).
