Synopsis "Von Den Welfen Zu Den Staufern: Der Tod Welfs VII. 1167 Und Die Grundlegung Oberschwabens Im Mittelalter (in German)"
English summary: With the death of Welf VII in 1167, the end of the reign of the southern German House of Welf in Upper Swabia could already be foreseen. This volume, which contains contributions from the Weingartner conference of October 2017, focuses on how their extensive possessions and sovereign rights north of Lake Constance and up to Lechrain were transferred to the Hohenstaufen dynasty, which dominated both the empire and the Duchy of Swabia. The volume initially examines the transfer of sovereignty and then goes on to discuss how the dynasty's power base was considerably strengthened by the takeover of Welf ministries, monasteries and cities, posing the question as to the status of Upper Swabia in the late Teutonic Empire. Furthermore, the volume focuses on how authority in former Welf lands developed within the context of the system of "Landvogtei" during the post-Hohenzollern period, while also examining surviving memories of the House of Welf, which made such a significant contribution to the development of Upper Swabia. German description: Mit dem Tod Welfs VII. im Jahr 1167 war das Ende der suddeutschen Welfen in Oberschwaben absehbar. Der Ubergang der umfangreichen Besitzungen und Hoheitsrechte nordlich des Bodensees und bis zum Lechrain an die im Reich und im Herzogtum Schwaben dominierenden Staufer ist Gegenstand des Bandes, der die Beitrage der Weingartner Tagung vom Oktober 2017 wiedergibt. Zunachst wird der Herrschaftswechsel nachgezeichnet, es kommt dann der groae Zugewinn zur Sprache, den die Dynastie durch die Ubernahme der welfischen Ministerialen, Kloster und Stadte fur ihre Hausmacht verbuchen konnte, so dass sich die Frage nach dem Stellenwert Oberschwabens im spatstaufischen Reich stellt. Daruber hinaus geht es um die herrschaftliche Entwicklung des ehemaligen Welfenlandes in nachstaufischer Zeit im Rahmen der Landvogtei und um Spuren der Erinnerung an die Familie der Welfen, die maageblich zur Pragung Oberschwabens beigetragen hat.
